About NAFESU

NAFESU, the National Federation of SpazaShop Union, is a national representative federation established to organise, represent and advance the interests of SpazaShop owners and the wider SpazaShop ecosystem.

Who we are

NAFESU provides a coordinated platform for SpazaShop Principals and sector participants to engage government, municipalities, traditional leadership, organised business, financial institutions, manufacturers, logistics providers, technology partners and other stakeholders.

NAFESU retains its own legal and organisational identity, independently from each affiliate. Each affiliate likewise retains its identity and internal autonomy.

NAFESU is not a political party. Its role is sector representation, advocacy, organisation and economic development. It does not affiliate to, merge with or formally align itself with any political party.

Vision

To build an organised, recognised, sustainable and economically empowered SpazaShop sector that contributes meaningfully to inclusive economic development, employment creation and community prosperity.

Mission

To represent and organise SpazaShop Principals, promote quality and professional standards, facilitate access to markets and economic opportunities, and advance strategic partnerships that transform the SpazaShop sector into an integrated national value-chain ecosystem.

Our objectives

  1. Represent and advocate for SpazaShop Principals and sector participants.
  2. Promote formalisation, professionalisation and sustainable growth.
  3. Advocate for common national standards and practical regulatory frameworks.
  4. Facilitate access to infrastructure, procurement, finance, technology, logistics and markets.
  5. Promote local manufacturing and participation by South African producers.
  6. Facilitate partnerships with government, organised business and other stakeholders.
  7. Promote training, skills development and professional sector participation.
  8. Advance inclusive economic participation for communities, women, youth and entrepreneurs.
  9. Advance NSEP, Quality First and SpazaMe as strategic development initiatives.
